| Information - BrodTeNS FAQs |
|
 |
 |
| Can anyone wear a BrodTeNS? |
|
No. A Brod®TeNS must not be used by anyone fitted with a heart pacemaker or by anyone
suffering from epilepsy. If you have any concerns regarding other ailments you should consult your
doctor or physician before wearing a BrodTeNS. |
| What conditions can it help? |
|
Professional advice should be taken before using any therapy. The benefits reported from third parties
on this site must be considered as subjective unless backed by independent clinical studies.
Unfortunately natural therapies do not usually attract funding for clinical trials as corporate budgets
are directed at research leading to new drug formulations. The individual therapies used in
Brod®TeNS have been reported as helping many conditions including, but not limited to: |
- Muscle pain
- Arthritis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Menstrual Pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Aching joints
- Reynard’s Disease (White finger)
- Lack of energy
- Accelerated healing
- Sports performance
- Eczema
|
| Will it work for me? |
|
Each of the individual therapies incorporated into the Brod®TeNS have provided millions
of people with relief over the years. Because the Brod®TeNS offers four different
complimentary therapies it is most unlikely that no benefit will be experienced. |
| Is it safe to use with other medications? |
|
Yes, and you may reduce or possibly stop the need for pain killing drugs. If your drugs are prescribed
by your doctor do not reduce or stop your medication without your doctor's approval. |
| How quickly will I notice the benefit? |
|
We are all individuals and react to stimuli in different ways. Many will notice a benefit within hours
whereas some will take longer. The trial of magnetic bracelets reported in the British Medical Journal
suggested that the maximum benefit was gained after 12 weeks. |
| When should I wear the Brod®TeNS? |
|
Because the Brod®TeNS provides a safe DC micro current there is no time restriction on
the length of time the product can be worn. Although many people will wear their
Brod®TeNS 24/7, we suggest that as a minimum it is worn during the day time when the
body is at peak activity. |
| What about allergies? |
|
Every care has been taken in the manufacture of Brod®TeNS to isolate allergic reactions.
Most metal allergies are a result of alloys containing metals that are known to be highly allergenic,
such as nickel. The shell of the Brod®TeNS is made from the same grade of stainless
steel that is used for medical implant devices, the bands are either silicon (which is less reactive
than rubber) or hypoallergenic leather, the electrode carrier is polypropylene and the electrodes are
copper and zinc, each known for their non-allergenic properties. |
| TECHNICAL STUFF |
| What is the electrical output? |
|
The output will vary dependant on the individual wearing the product and how much perspiration they
produce. The average can be expected to be 500mV although this can rise to approximately 750mV when
perspiration levels are high. |
| How can it work without a battery? |
|
The Brod®TeNS produces an electro-chemical reaction when the copper electrode (cathode)
and the zinc electrode (anode) are bridged by a saline solution (your body's sweat). The resulting
electrical energy is known as a galvanic (DC) current. |
| Is the module really waterproof? |
|
Yes, the Brod®TeNS is waterproof. However, it should not be worn swimming in salt water
as this will accelerate the migration of the zinc ions. If it is worn in salt water it should be rinsed
immediately afterwards in fresh water. If the Brod®TeNS is fitted with a leather band it
is not recommended to wear it when showering, bathing or swimming. |
| What about maintenance? |
|
It is important to clean the copper and zinc electrodes regularly by wiping them with a damp soapy
cloth. |
| Are there any serviceable parts? |
|
Yes. The electrodes will eventually require replacement due to ion migration, this is part of the
current generation process. We offer a postal replacement service when the electrodes eventually
require replacing. Full details are supplied with the product. |
| How long will the electrodes last? |
The life of the electrodes is dependant on how often the Brod®TeNS is worn and how much
perspiration your body generates. Through activities of daily living, the average person loses about
3-4 litres (about 10-15 cups) of fluid a day in sweat, exhaled air, urine and body waste. We lose
approximately 1-2 litres of water just from breathing. The evaporation of sweat from the skin accounts
for 90% of our cooling ability. Some people also have a higher ratio of salts in their sweat than
others. For these reasons we cannot state the length of time before a replacement is required. |
| How will I know when to replace the electrodes? |
|
When the zinc ions have migrated the silver colour of the zinc will disappear to reveal the copper
base. When the copper colour becomes visible the electrodes should be replaced. |
| What is the CE mark? |
|
CE marking ensures the product complies with the EU medical device regulations. The
Brod®TeNS is registered with the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory
Agency) as a Class 1 Medical Device. |
